This page explains what data leml.ist collects when you visit, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. The short version: we run standard analytics, we count clicks on our own referral links, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
leml.ist ("we", "us") is an independent publisher of guides about cold outreach. We are an affiliate partner of lemlist and are not owned, operated, or officially endorsed by lemlist. This policy covers only this website. Once you follow a link to lemlist.com or any other third-party site, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used, so we can see which guides help and which pages need work:
Both services process data on our behalf. We do not receive your name, email address, or any account information from either of them, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from analytics data.
Buttons and links on this site that lead to lemlist route through an internal redirect on our own server. When you click one, we log the date, the page or button the click came from, and standard request information, so we can tell which pages are useful. This log stays on our server and is used only for understanding site performance.
The domain warm-up calculator needs no account and no email address. Two things happen on our server when you use it:
To stop the tools being used as a free DNS-lookup service by scripts, we rate limit them per visitor. That works by storing a keyed hash of your IP address alongside timestamps of recent requests, and nothing else. The hash is computed with a secret held only on our server, so the stored value cannot be turned back into an IP address without that secret. These counters are deleted automatically within 24 hours and are never joined to analytics, click logs, or the calculator dataset.
The deliverability checker works the same way as the warm-up calculator, reading only public DNS. Two things are worth calling out. First, each audit creates a shareable report page (at a /report/ link) so you can send the result to a client or colleague; that saved report necessarily contains the domain you checked, but no personal data, and it is refreshed whenever the domain is re-audited. Second, our anonymous statistics from the checker never include the domain, an IP, or anything identifying, only the categorical result of each check. If you ask us for a re-check reminder, we store the email address you give and the domain to re-check, and use them only to send that reminder; you can ask us to delete either at any time.
If you enter your email address in one of our sign-up boxes (a popup, or the box shown alongside your warm-up plan), we store that address so we can send you cold-outreach and deliverability tips and the occasional note about new guides and tools. Giving it is entirely optional, and the site works fully without it. When you sign up from the warm-up calculator, we also store the plan you just generated (the number of weeks and mailboxes, and your mailbox provider) so a later email can be relevant to it; we do not store the domain you checked. We only ever add an address that you typed in yourself: we never build this list from analytics, the click log, or the calculator dataset. We do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time and we will delete it.
If you send us a message through our contact form, we store what you type: your name (if you give one), your email address, an optional subject, and your message. We use it only to read and reply to you. It is not added to any mailing list, is never sold or shared, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting. These are retained on a rolling basis and are not used for marketing.
Cookies on this site come from the analytics services described above. They are used to distinguish visitors and sessions, not to build advertising profiles on our behalf. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works fine without them. Most browsers also honor private/incognito browsing, which discards cookies when the window closes.
Our referral links include tracking parameters that tell lemlist the visit came from us, which is how referral commissions are attributed. Once you land on lemlist.com, any cookies or tracking applied there are governed by lemlist's own privacy policy and cookie choices, which we do not control. Signing up through our link costs you nothing extra.
Where laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or similar frameworks apply, our basis for most of the processing above is legitimate interest: operating, securing, and improving a content website. For our email list the basis is your consent, given when you enter your address, which you can withdraw at any time by asking us to remove you. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold very little that could identify you, but if you make a request we will check our logs and respond within 30 days.
Analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Our internal click log and server logs are periodically pruned and are kept no longer than needed for the purposes described here.
This site is written for professionals running business outreach and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we add features that change what we collect, for example a newsletter or a comments section, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top before the change takes effect.
